Information of Tamarindo

Playa Tamarindo is the principle beach easily accessed from the town itself or from a range of accommodations including luxurious beachfront hotels to the economical like hostels and B&Bs. Beyond estuaries lie two more beautiful beaches, Playa Grande to the north and Playa Langosta to the south. However if you're looking for water sport action, eco-tour adventures, a romantic honeymoon escape or just a lovely night out on the town, Tamarindo is simply brimming with options.

Formerly a laid-back fishing village, Tamarindo experienced accelerated growth over the past decade with an array of high-rise condominiums, strip malls, tourist shops and restaurants offering a smorgasbord of international cuisine. Visitors from around the world find just what they’re looking for in Tamarindo.

Many European and North American tourists come to Tamarindo Beach Costa Rica to relax and soak in the rays on sunshine. However those more interested in nature can visit to the expansive Playa Grande beach at the north end of the bay, which along with Playa Langosta, form part of Las Baulas National Marine Park. The park protects a very important nesting area for the leather back sea turtle. Turtle watching is a definite highlight for many tourists and best done between October and March.

Tamarindo Guanacaste offers plenty of water activities. Several charter boat operators take advantage of the world-class fishing of the highly sought after marlin and sailfish. Tamarindo and Playa Grande are both hotspots for surfers looking to catch the perfect wave. Surf schools for those new to the sport can be found in town. Scuba diving, sailing and even sunset cruises are also available.

The social scene in this beautiful destination became world famous when E! Wild On filmed an episode highlighting the nightlife in 2003. Bars and restaurants catering to one's desire are plentiful. On a more romantic note honeymooners will find their perfect escape in Tamarindo and many take advantage of the idyllic beach setting to tie the knot as the sun sets on the magnificent Pacific waters.

Tamarindo encompasses all when it comes to sun and fun. Come and enjoy your vacation!
